Statewide Transportation Improvement Program

The Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is a federally required document that provides the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) a listing of all projects that are candidates for federal-aid or regionally significant projects that are not using federal-aid. This capital improvement plan is fiscally constrained and covers a six year period. Federal agencies are mainly concerned with the first four years of this document; the final two years are for informational purposes. Presently, the STIP is updated on an annual basis and runs on a federal fiscal year (October 1 – September 30).

The Draft 2015 - 2020 STIP Project Listing has been made available for public review and comment unit September 9, 2014.  All comments must be mailed to:

Once an amendment has been federally approved, the resulting changes are shown in the Dynamic Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (DSTIP). This document is set up in the same format as the project listing in the approved STIP, but it also shows changes (cost, funding, status) resulting from amendments and adjustments.

Below is a linked map for dynamic mapping utilizing web-based GIS technology. From this link the user can zoom-in and out and query the DSTIP. This information is helpful with locating projects by geography.
