DOH Adds Restrictions to Five District One Bridges

CHARLESTON—Reevaluation of two bridge in Boone County, two spans in Kanawha County, and another span in Putnam County, all of District One, has allowed the Division of Highways to change weight restrictions.

Weight restrictions have been added to the Boone County bridge carrying Boone County Route 119/10 over Spruce Fork/Little  Coal River just west of WV Route 17 at Greenview.  The new restrictions limit trucks of two axles to 20 tons, trucks of three axles to 30 tons, trucks of four or more axles to 30 tons, semi-trailers of four axles to 31 tons and semi-trailers of five axles to 33 tons.   As this is a dead end route, no detour is available. 

Restrictions on the Boone County Route 119/43 bridge spanning Turtle Creek 0.31 mile south of US Route 119 are now set at 20 tons for two-axle trucks, 28 tons for three-axle trucks, 28 tons for four or more axle trucks, 31 tons for four-axle semi-trailers, and 33 tons for five-axle semi-trailers.  No detour is available as this is a dead end route.

New restrictions on the Kanawha County Route 58 bridge spanning Falling Rock Creek 3.67 miles north of Kanawha County Route 58/2 an southeast of Falling Rock are set at 20 tons for trucks of two axles, 26 tons for trucks of three axles, 26 tons for trucks of four or more axles, 28 tons for four-axle semi-trailers, and 33 tons for five-axle semi-trailers.  No detour is available as this is a dead end route.

The Kanawha County bridge carrying US Route 119 over Coopers Creek just north of WV Route 114 at Bream now carries weight restrictions of 18 tons for two-axle trucks, 30 tons for three-axle trucks,  31 tons for four or more axle trucks, 31 tons for four-axle semi-trailers, and 40 tons for five-axle semi-trailers.  A one-mile detour is available to overweight vehicles along WV Route 114, Kanawha County Route 119/63, and US Route 119.

The Putnam County Route 14 bridge spanning Eighteenmile Creek 0.26 mile east of Putnam County Route 7/2 now carries weight restrictions of 20 tons for trucks of two axles, 25 tons for trucks of three axles, 26 tons for trucks of four or more axles, 28 tons for semi-trailers of four axles, and 33 tons for semi-trailers of five axles.  Overweight vehicles may follow a six-mile detour along Putnam County Route 7/2, Putnam County Route 7, Putnam County Route 7/1, Putnam County Route 34/8, and Putnam County Route 14.
