Tom Smith, P.E.
Tom has worked with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for 35 years. He has served in a number of positions around the United States. His most recent assignments with the FHWA include the following:
Division Administrator, Charleston, West Virginia (Since August 1999)
Acting Associate Administrator for Civil Rights, FHWA HQ, 2008-2009
Central Artery/Tunnel Project Administrator, Boston, Massachusetts
Assistant Division Administrator, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
He completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering at North Carolina State University and is a registered professional engineer in West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
He and his wife, Mary, have been married for 31 years, and reside in Hurricane, West Virginia. They have two sons (both are engineers) and a teenage daughter.
