US 22 Joint Repair
Notes: DELAYS AND POSSIBLE DETOURS...WATCH FOR CHANGING TRAFFIC PATTERNS. This project is located on both the east and westbound lanes of US 22 between the Veterans Memorial Bridge and the WV Route 2, Downtown Weirton Exit. The project was awarded to Kelly Paving, Inc. of Williamstown, WV at a cost of $2,289,881.10. Work has started in left (fast) lanes in both directions of travel. The project is currently 3% complete.
US 250 / WV 2 SB
Hospital Bridge Painting
Notes: LANE REDUCTION - This project is located on US 250/WV2 through southeast Wheeling, between the 16th Street and 18th Street Exits. The work consists of cleaning and painting the overpass bridge between these two exits. The project was awarded to KVK Contracting of Tarpon Springs, FL at a cost of $4,339,920.00. The contractor closed the southbound slow lane for the placement of equipment, and, continued with the installation of the paint containment system together with blasting and painting of the primer, intermediate and top coatings. The project is currently 43% complete; but, had been halted for the winter. The contractor has now returned to set more containment tarps. Painting is also resuming as the weather and temperatures permit. The planned completion date is October 30, 2014.
Colliers Way Bridge
Notes: LANE CLOSURES - This project is located above US 22 near the PA State Line in the City of Weirton. The work consists of replacing the Colliers Way Bridge, on WV State Route 105 as it crosses US Route 22. The project was awarded to Swank Construction Company, Inc. of New Kensington, PA at a cost of $4,726,362.66. The contractor has set-up traffic controls, and has closed both the east and westbound left (fast) lanes of US Route 22. Work is continuing as the electrical contractor works on forming and pouring concrete foundations for High Mast Lighting. A subcontractor will be working on setting reinforcing steel and Stay In Place (SIP) forms that will be used during the pour of a portion of the new bridge deck. And, at the same time, the prime contractor will be performing cut & fill earthmoving operations along County Route 105 and along the entrance/exit ramps. The planned completion date is October 31, 2014; and, the project is currently 27% complete
WV 105 Pennsylvania Ave
Notes: This project is located on WV 105 (Pennsylvania Avenue) in the City of Weirton. The work to be performed is located between 11th Street and North 23rd Street on WV 105. Work consists of grading, drainage, paving, signing, pavement markings, signals and water & sewer line relocations. The project was awarded to The James White Construction Company of Weirton, WV at a cost of $4,464,385.80, and work started with the installation of traffic controls and 30” culvert piping. Work is also being performed for the replacement & relocation of water and sewer lines along Pennsylvania Avenue. The planned completion date is August 31, 2014; and, the project is currently 21% complete.
WV 2 Washington Street Lighting & Turn Lane
Notes: This project is located on WV 2 just south of Newell, WV. Work involves the widening of WV 2 to create a northbound left turn lane for County Route 2/13 (Quaker State Road) together with the installation of a piling wall, lighting, paved shoulders, drainage improvements and pavement markings. The project was awarded to Ohio-West Virginia Excavating Company of Powhatan Point, Ohio at a cost of $1,266,219.50. Work has started on the project with the contractor concentrating on the placement of traffic control devices and performing clearing and grubbing. The project is currently 3% complete. Expected completion date is August 29, 2014.
Eagle Manufacturing Industrial Access Road & Turn Signal
Notes: This project is located along WV 2 in the City of Wellsburg with signal work being concentrated at the intersections of 16th, 22nd and 27th Streets. The project was awarded to Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. of Lexington, KY at a cost of $422,396.00. The project initially concentrated on the intersection of 22nd Street with all four signal foundations and new poles now being set. Project is currently 40% complete. Expected completion date is September 12, 2014.
