The Right-of-Way Division's main purpose is to deliver and manage rights of way necessary to support the safe and efficient transportation system of West Virginia, utilizing a cost-efficient, high-quality process while ensuring fair compensation is paid for all property.
The Division is responsible for acquiring new rights of way, managing all properties owned by WVDOH, accommodating public utilities within DOH rights of way, railroad coordination, assisting with relocation services to each family or business affected by the construction and maintenance of the DOH road system, and relocation of any graves or cemeteries located within the proposed highway right-of-way.
