The West Virginia Parkways Authority is currently accepting resumes for the position of full time Radio Operator for our Charleston Headquarters office. Applicants must be able: to pass a background investigation, to pass or have a WEAPONS teletype certification, receive and dispatch information via turnpike radio, state police radio, teletype, telephone and mail to all law enforcement, turnpike personnel, wrecker and road service, ambulance, fire and emergency personnel, maintain a precise and factual radio log, file teletype records, maintain state police unit status log, maintain wrecker and road service log, maintain a maintenance unit status log, monitor scan-cast system and update maintenance personnel of same, check outstanding ticket for status at request of State Police Units, maintain data recorder records of all radio, telephone traffic from operations, maintain log of criminal history (CIB, West Virginia) and III (NCIC Interstate) checks, update personnel of changing road and weather conditions, man the switchboard after hours, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to multi-task. Must have ability to perform under pressure, have outstanding character traits, to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner. Must possess excellent communication skills. Must possess fundamental typing/keyboarding skills. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience in dispatching preferred. Successful applicant must be able to pass background investigation, be able to pass or have WEAPONS teletype certification and must be fingerprinted.
